May's Guest Designer

With the reveal of our May kit approaching quickly, I wanted to introduce you to our talented Guest Designer for May, Joy Jarvis.  Joy subscribes to our kits, and has done some really fabulous work with them, and we just wanted to show off her beautiful work!  Be sure to stop by our gallery tomorrow to see the wonderful layouts she and the Design Team have created with the May kit!

Meet Joy:

First, I’m so blessed to be married to the most amazing man who is so supportive of my scrapbooking obsession.  We live in NE Ohio, and I have a daughter who is 19.  I work full-time for a specialty-chemicals company in their marketing/sales department.  I started scrapbooking 9 years ago and am always looking for innovative, new techniques.  I love dark colors, dramatic contrasts, shabby chic, vintage, and grunge styles.  I'm addicted to inking, distressing, spray mists, cutting, and stamping.  I joined Scraps of Darkness last year after seeing all the talent and beautiful artwork the Design Team does here.  And the kits, well, they speak for themselves!  Melinda does a fabulous job of coordinating items that inspire and challenge.  My creativity definitely stepped up after joining here, and I love being part of the fun forum as well!  I’m honored to be chosen as a guest designer this month, and I hope you enjoy what I’ve done with this kit.  For details on my layouts, please visit my blog:  http://www.myscraptuary.blogspot.com/

April Layout of The Month!

As I was looking at all the layouts done in April by our subscriber's, this one just jumped out at me...

Mind...Body...Spirit by Christine Motter
Not only is the design fabulous, but the techniques and symbolism on this layout are just amazing!
Christine did this layout for our Skeletons in the Closet Challenge, which was to scrap "What defines you?".

Most of this is symbolic, but overall, and I think this is true with anyone-a person is defined by their mind, body and spirit. This pic is of me about a year and a half ago. I'm a lot more fluffy at the moment-still have lotsa baby weight to lose. I did a ton of inking-my first time using resist paper-that was a ton of fun. I glimmer glammed my tree, but it's hard to see in this pic. Looks pretty sweet IRL. Did a lil glimmer misting on my sun and my butterflies. Put a lil crackle paint on my DA skull which I bought in the Scraps of Darkness store. The birds up in the corner are a Tim Holtz stamp... Did all my cutting with my cricut.

This layout is just wonderful in so many ways, Christine.  Congratulations!
