August Kit Reveal!

Good morning, it's Friday!
Not only is it Friday, it's Reveal Day for our August Scraps of Darkness kit: Kathy's Nature Walk

Our August kit is named after one of our wonderful designers, Kathy Mosher, and I think it's the perfect kit for Kathy, I know she will have beautiful projects to share with us this month!

We've combined two fabulous collections in this kit, BoBunny's Heritage, and Kaisercraft's new Botanica collections.  Then we added some sweet elements from Prima (check out those Evita butterflies - they're to die for!), Blue Fern Studios, Ranger, Vintaj, and Offray ribbon.

We've also got some must have add on this month, all carefully chosen to work perfectly with the main kit.

Our Patterned Paper add on is an extra set of the double sided papers in the Main Kit.  Perfect if you want to be able to use both sides of those gorgeous papers:

If you love paper (and who doesn't?!), our Coordinating Paper add on is for you!  It includes 2 each of 5 different double sided papers that are NOT in the main kit, but that will coordinate with the main kit:

Our Creativity Add On is a Technique/Project/Mixed Media add on, and this month, it's all about metal:

And then there's the Elements Add On - who doesn't need more embellishments?!

Our Floral Add On is just that -- Flowers!

And last, but not least, we have the Cardstock Add On - you get 2 sheets each of 3 different colors of My Colors heavyweight (80lb) card stock.

That's all we have for today, we'll be sharing gorgeous projects from our Design Team throughout the month, so hit that "follow" button so you don't miss a single one!

Have a beautiful weekend...

It's a girl thing!

Good Wednesday morning!
We are half way through the week and its been a hot one!
We are under a heat advisory today so if the thunderstorm don't hit we may go swimming
or we might hide in the air conditioning!

Today I thought we would celebrate a few of the girls in our lives....

Firs up is Tracey G. using the Scraps of Darkness kit named after her,
'Tracey's Artful Adventure'  and this impeccable layout of her beautiful daughter....

Tracey loves to try new things and often leaves her comfort zone of shabby chic to create a gorgeous layout like this.

Here are some close ups

Next are a couple of layouts by me.  First is a project about my beautiful granddaughters using the same Scraps of Darkness kit
I used the Bo Bunny Penny Emporium papers from the kit and paper add on.
They look so happy to just be sisters!
The flowers are from the kit, floral add on and from the store!
I used a stencil, some modeling paste then painted it using Shimmerz Inklingz
I also added some glass beads and gesso!

I added the glass beads and gesso to the flowers and the Prima metal angel wings from the
Embellishment add on.  I used the Kaisercraft letters from the main kit for the title!

The next layout is of my beautiful sister and I!
I used the Bo Bunny Emporium papers for this one too!  I misted some doilies using Lindy's mists from previous kits.
I used the chipboard sticker for my title and the lace is from a previous kit
I love the canvas corp tissue paper and the pretty butterfly!
I created this cluster with flowers from the add on, the kit and the store!
The pretty cameo is from the element add on!

And finally we have a super sweet layout from Lynne using the Scraps Of Elegance
kit 'Patricia's Memoirs'
what a sweet photo!
here are the wonderful details

Fishing with the boys: a gorgeous outdoors layout

Good morning!  It's a beautiful summer weekend, and I hope you have something wonderful and outdoorsy planned.
We have something wonderful and outdoorsy to share today - inspiration for those photos you take this weekend, or anytime this summer!

Kathy Mosher created this one with our July Tracey's Artful Adventure kit and add ons.  Here's what she had to say about it:

I have another layout to share using the Scraps of Darkness July Kit "Tracey's Artful Adventure".  This layout (lo) was a real challenge, and took me more time than I wanted it to, but I'm happy with the results and that I didn't rush too much.  It's a photo of my son, Patrick and my 2 grandsons Chase and Cameron (ages 6 and 4).  The photo was taken down on the Kenai Peninsula, which is where all the fish are.  It was the first time that Uncle Pat took the boys out.  Patrick is an avid Alaskan fisherman.  He should be, he's been doing it since he could walk!
I used Kaisercraft's "Scrap Yard" collection and wonderful script tissue paper, which were included in the kit.  I matted the photos with Bo Bunny's "Mama-Razzi" from an older SOD kit.  The 2 collections really seemed to work well together.

Then I tore the sheets of paper into a design for the background.  As you can see from the photos below, I did a lot of texture (white design) using modeling paste and a stencil.  Next I stamped like crazy using the cutest stamp from Prima / Finnabair, which was also included in the kit.  Too much fun!

After I layered and matted the photos, I created a little circle out of some florals from the local craft store to put behind the left photo.  I used some moss and lichen as embellishments along with the beautiful Prima Allure Reina flower which was included in the Floral Add-On for the kit.  I had to add some little beads to the flower and moss to add a little sparkle!  The title is actually the bottom strip of the paper.

I just love this layout, I think Kathy's achieved perfection with it, she's brought the feeling and elements of the photos right out onto the layout.

I hope you enjoyed Kathy's layout, and if you'd like to pick up one of these kits for yourself, you can find it in the Scraps of Darkness Kits section of our store.

Off the page projects that will inspire!

Good Friday morning everyone!
My family and I went away for a few days to Canada's Wonderland!
We had a wonderful time but it is good to be home and I have so many wonderful projects
to share!

Today I am focusing on a few off the page projects that are really outstanding!
First up is a stunning project from Renea using the Scraps Of Elegance 'Patricia's Memoirs kit'

She used the kit and chipboard screens set to put together a Miniature Victorian Room Divider.
She added texture by painting the screens with Prima White Crackle Texture Paste, and then inked over it with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Ink

To hold the screens together she punched holes and added hand dyed seam binding and bows topped with roses.

For the left side, she distressed some of the kit paper, then cut out one of the Vintage lady images from the paper and added a Prima Shabby Chic Treasures Victorian Frame. She then added a Prima Flower from this month's Floral Add on, and some past kit mini roses.

For the right side she added more distressed paper, then fussy cut out one of the dresses from the papers and "hung" it on a little clothes hanger, then took one of the rhinestone brads from the Elements Add On to hold the clothes hanger. She added some more of the past kit mini roses.

Next up is a gorgeous set of mosaics from Mallika using the July Patricia's Memoirs Scraps Of Elegance kit

She used mini Canvases to make these gorgeous mosaics

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I will bring you more Gorgeous Off The Page Projects soon!
